Backyard Bible Club allows you to bring the church to your neighbors. Jesus came down to earth to meet people where they were. By hosting at your house or nearby park, you can invite neighbors and friends to attend. They don’t need a ride, and they don’t need to even go inside a building. Beyond that, the ones teaching about Jesus are not strangers, they are familiar, kind faces. While there is still great opportunity with traditional VBS, and we might choose that route in future years, we are excited to offer Backyard Bible Club as another avenue to share the good news of Jesus with people in your community.

If you sign up to host a Backyard Bible Club, then you will receive an all-in-one kit designed by Lifeway for a club of approximately 20 kids. The traditional VBS curriculum is simplified to fit a limited outdoor setting. Resources are included to provide up to five days of a two-hour Backyard Kids Club.

Here’s What’s Included:

• Host Folder: Contains information about promotion, registration, safety and security, and snack ideas.
• Music Folder: Provides ideas for opening and closing worship and music time.
• Crafts Folder: Provides 10 craft ideas (five are identified as preschool friendly and two are identified as preteen friendly).
• Preschool Bible Study Folder: Provides five 30-minute daily Bible study sessions for ages 3 year olds–Kindergarten.
• Children’s Bible Study Folder: Provides five 30-minute daily Bible study sessions for grades 1-6.
• Recreation Card Sets: For both grade school recreation and preschool recreation.
• Snack Recipe Cards
• Music for Kids CD
• Music for Preschoolers CD

• Full-color teaching pictures and other teaching resources

The church will provide a $50 gift card to cover most of your supplies, snacks, etc. For additional printing needs, like coloring sheets, lessons, or promotional flyers, the church is willing to print or copy on your behalf.

The box provides up to five days of a two-hour Backyard Bible Club, but additional prep-time will be up to you. Here are a few scheduling ideas:

• Idea #1: Two hours a day for a week, Monday – Friday
• Idea #2: Two hours a day, once a week, for several weeks
• Idea #3: Two hours a day for three days if that better fits your schedule

The Backyard Bible Club all-in-one box is designed for a club of approximately 20 kids and could be used for as few as five kids. If your club may be larger, then we will help you find ways to make it a great experience.

Yes!  This process takes 1-2 weeks. It includes an application, reference check, background check, videos on sexual abuse awareness, and an interview.

When you fill out the Backyard Bible Club interest form, we will contact you with more information about Kid’s Safe Training.

Promotional flyers are included in the box. You can pass these out to your neighbors and encourage your kids to invite their friends.
