Over the last few months, our Walnut Creek Team has been closely monitoring federal, state, and local recommendations for how best to respond to COVID-19. In order to help create a safe and healthy environment for our community, our team put in place a three-step path to regathering.
Based on the most updated information, Walnut Creek anticipates entering into Step Three of that plan on the weekend of June 6-7 when we regather for weekend services at all four locations.
Outlined below are the categories of precautions we are taking in our weekend services to increase health measures and mitigate the spread of germs:
Category 1: Limited Capacity Services with Additional Safety Measures
Services will be limited to 50 percent capacity or less in terms of available seats in our main sanctuaries. Seats will be organized with social distancing in mind. Each location will work to address seating needs through the use of additional safe and sanitary spaces. We have also adjusted aspects of our service to eliminate items being passed between people.

Category 2: No Kids’ Classes with Gradual Reintroduction
Upon first regathering, we will not offer Kids’ Classes or nursery care for our weekend services. Each location will have at least one other space for families to view a streamed version of the service.

Category 3: Live Stream Services
We will continue to offer an online church option for those who are not immediately able to rejoin physically, with at least one live-streamed service from each of our four locations.

Category 4: Heightened Cleaning Protocol
One of the most important parts of the regathering process will be ensuring a safe and responsible environment. To that end, we are increasing the frequency and extent of cleaning procedures at each of our locations. In addition, services will be shortened to reduce the amount of time spent together.
