Stepping back onto American soil one month ago was slightly shocking: no one wearing face masks (which are still required at all times in the Northern Kingdom), water fountains everywhere, significantly lower standards of modesty, etc. At the same time, our return felt so natural–our heart language is always right!–and we can navigate nearly all interactions without thinking. Learning another culture has been an incredible privilege: we feel we are now much better equipped to appreciate the beautiful aspects of our own culture and also better recognize and avoid the aspects of our culture most tainted by sin.
We hope to use our time in the US to reconnect with friends and family as well as prepare for our move to Africa in the fall, which actually requires a significant amount of work. We need to raise a significant amount of our funds for as business as well as go through the procedures to register our company in the US and then in Africa.
Rest? Of course we want to get meaningful time with our families whom we haven’t seen for about three years and we also hope to get good time as a smaller family unit, however, we recognize that the Lord still has good works prepared for us even in this season. We hope to find our rest in the Lord and be replenished as we hope to head out again into our work to bring the Gospel to the unreached overseas.
