Having the opportunity to serve on a Goer’s A-Team has been a real blessing for our family. It’s a privilege to be so closely involved with someone so focused and sold out to reaching the unreached. The opportunity to walk-through and support the Goer through all the steps prior to reaching their final context has taught me about how hard it is to be a Goer and the need for God to provide grace and strength for specific obstacles every step of the their journey.
Being on a Goer’s A-Team has humbled me and taught me the importance of providing support for Goers trying to reach the unreached. It’s obviously difficult leaving your life in Iowa, learning a new language, starting a business, learning a new culture, building relationships and so on. Being completely on the giving and helping end providing important support has been humbling. Serving on an A-Team has also helped me grow in prayer and trust God to do the seemingly impossible. There’s a reason why people groups remain unreached–it’s really hard to reach them. It’s been good and hard to see firsthand the support needed to meet specific needs that arise.
Feeling embedded in the field with the Goer has been a blessing. Learning the specific challenges the Goer faces and being their connection to Walnut Creek Church is an honor. It’s a long journey for the Goer, so providing them some stability from “home” is important. We look forward to helping meet some of their physical and practical needs when they return to Iowa for a short time. It will be a good opportunity to hear more about their lives, but also just show them the practical love and support they have from their church and friends. Serving on an A-Team has been a terrific opportunity, challenge, and blessing to be a small part of God’s greater mission to seek and save the lost from every tribe, nation, and tongue.
