As a church, we are instructed in Romans 13:1-7 to be in subjection to our governing authorities. For this reason, we chose to temporarily cease our weekend services earlier this Spring in deference to Governor Reynolds’ proclamation. Unless mandated to sin, we will continue to do our best to obey this scriptural mandate.
As many of you are aware, Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie signed a proclamation earlier this week requiring face masks be worn in most public settings. The proclamation did not reference places of worship, so we subsequently contacted the City and confirmed churches are not subject to the proclamation’s requirements.
As such, we will continue to provide a variety of gathering options for the saints within our weekend services. We will host in person and live-streamed services (5pm & 7pm on Saturday, 9am & 10:30am on Sunday), but will not mandate the use of masks. We will continue to offer masks at all our services, practice appropriate social distancing, and follow recommended cleansing protocols throughout the building. For those who wish to attend, we will also have a mask-required service at 12pm on Sundays.
Also, Kids’ Classes will resume this weekend for nursery through 5th grade. Please read the following guidelines that will guide ours Kids Ministry to ensure a healthy and safe environment. Remember to download the Church Center app to reserve a spot ahead of the service.
We look forward to seeing you this weekend and please let us know if you have any questions.
